Crown Heights CSA Registration

In Community Service,Openings,Restaurants/Dining on April 3, 2009 by Ferentz Lafargue

Crown Heights CSA has a new site

Crown Heights CSA Registration:  Sunday April 5 from 2:00 – 6:00 at the Franklin Park bar at 618 St. Johns Place near Franklin Avenue. We will be outside at the picnic tables where kids are welcome.

Important points to remember for the upcoming CSA season:

  • The drop-off location for the season will be on the sidewalk in front of the Franklin Park Bar.
  • The pick-ups will be from 4:00 – 7:30 PM every Tuesday starting June 9, for 23 weeks.
  • The official prices for our first season, including a $15 registration fee for CSA expenses, will be:
    • A full share = $565
    • A partial share = $350
  • Every member will be expected to work 2 shifts (4 hours) for the season at Tuesday drop-off nights.
  • We’re encouraging people to split full shares (cheaper than buying partial shares). We can help match people up on registration day.
  • Since this is our 1st season we’ll offer only veggies, no fruit or eggs. Hopefully, we can add those things next year.
  • We have applied for some grants to start a revolving loan so that people who need it can pay on installment. We are optimistic that we will get the money but we do not know for sure. If you will need a payment plan please come to the registration day with a $100 deposit and we can work out further details with you. ***Unfortunately, if you don’t have a $100 deposit on that day we will not be able to guarantee you a spot.***
  • If you are able to pay the full amount please bring a check with the full amount to the registration day. Checks can be made out to Crown Heights CSA.

Since we firmly believe that all folks should have access to yummy organic veggies we would like to raise some money for low-income shares. Therefore, if you are an artist or a baker or a book person or whoever, please consider bringing something to sell during our registration. We’ll set up a table for crafts and edible goodies and all the proceeds will go to provide low-income shares.

Looking forward to meeting everyone on April 5!

Bike Ride to Coney Island

In Events on April 3, 2009 by Ferentz Lafargue Tagged: ,

Grab a bike. Grab some friends. Let’s go to Coney Island! Join BrooklynbyBike for our first inaugural Brooklyn by Bike ride this Sun April 5th at 12 noon. Meet under the Grand Army Plaza arch. This is a casual ride and great opportunity to meet like-minded bike loving folks. The ride to Coney is about 14 mi round trip on a mostly flat terrain. Bring lots of water and a helmet and we’ll see you on soon!

It’s free but we are asking for 5 buck donation to keep the site running and we’ll take anything.

Click here to RSVP for Sun April 5th at noon. [If you are looking to participate in the opening of the Cyclone and other assorted Coney events, this is the trip for you.].
